Drought Mental Health Program

Bourke – Broken Hill – Unincorporated NSW.

Funded by the Department of Social Services, the Drought Mental Health Program targets individuals and families in drought affected areas with a particular focus on farming families. It is delivered in Bourke, Broken Hill and Unincorporated NSW. The purpose of the program is to create awareness of and reduce stigma and discrimination around mental ill-health. Through the Drought Program, CatholicCare’s Mental Health team supports people with early symptoms of mental illness and assists them to access further support services if required. The Drought Mental Health Program aims to build resilience with individuals, families and communities living in drought affected areas.

Services under the Drought Mental Health Program include:

  • individual and group support
  • community awareness events

Participants do not require a formal diagnosis for mental illness.
